In my search through more of Martin's boxes and files of papers, today I came across a "Daily Book of Memories" that he kept in 1995. This was a Christmas present from his Grandson Jay at Christmas 1994 according to the inscription in the front of the book. Martin was 85 years old at the time. Most of Martin's other writings I have found have been written in a 1944 diary, on sheets of notebook paper and another journal from much earlier in his life. His handwriting in 1995 was not as crisp as it was in earlier years but is still a work of art. The stories he tells are the same, as if he wants to make sure they are not forgotten. That is why I have taken to sharing them with the rest of the world. This first entry on Jan 1, 1995 is the similar to the last blog I posted below with some more information included. His neighbor who named him John was James Banks, and the Martin he was named after was named Martin Paulsen.
