Worked all day today from Hudgins to Blakes, Hallieford, Cobbs Creek, Dutton and through to North. Went at nine o’clock on duty at the Air Observation Post. Came home and read “The Perilous Night”, which I had started some time ago, to its conclusion. It is a very interesting book laid in New York State at the time of the American Revolution.

This afternoon I carried Leone (his wife) to the Court House to have her hair cut and waved, took Miss Sarah (Leone’s Mother) to Dr. Foster at the same time to have impressions made for lame teeth. I also took Papa (J. Monroe Diggs) and carried him to William Daniels to look at a heifer which he purchased for $20.00.
I carried him home and mama gave me some fresh meat and sausage from a hog they killed yesterday.
Tonight I have been out looking for men to watch at the Air Observation Post. The following promised John Sheddie Hudgins, Robert Lee Callis, Taylor Owens, George Enos Brooks, I then came home and prepared my weekly reports. 11:05 p.m.

Worked all day in various sections of the County. This afternoon I stopped by to see Sue (Mrs. George Powell) for a few minutes. She is quite sick with arthritis and unable to walk. I carried her some Sunday School books. We miss she and Mr. Powell both in the Sunday School. She is active as a member of the Ladies Bible Class and as President of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service. Mr. Powell, a member of the Baptist Church has attended our Church faithfully and contributed liberally since he married Sue.
