Worked all day. I got home late and ate supper. Then Carole Anne went out with me to catch some chickens to kill. Then we went out to the store to get the evening paper. After we came back and Leone had bathed Carole Anne I put her to bed.
I then went to Central Church to the Training Class. The class period was very interesting, but I had to leave at 8:45 in order to go on duty at the Air Raid Station at 9:00. Mrs. Davis, one of the instructors has a son- an officer in the army with General MacArthur in the Philippines. She has heard nothing from him since war began. How very brave and consecrated she must be to come here for this work when her heart must be so heavy.

Today has really been a winter day, and the wind has blown a gale. It is not so cold but the wetness and the wind chill one through. I came home earlier to work on my reports this afternoon.
After supper Carole Anne went out with me to get the paper. After we came back Leone got her ready for bed. She drank a little milk, and I gave her water on which she got strangled and vomited her supper.
I went to the training school tonight after Carole Anne had gone to sleep.

It has been very cold today. I have been to the Training School tonight. Mrs. Goode, teacher of the class I am in , was telling me that she lost her husband only last fall. She was left alone-no children. This is the first class she has taught in since his death. She is a very sweet and brave person.
After I came home from work and had eaten supper, Carole Anne went out with me. She loves to go with me out when I come home. We went to the store and the Post Office.

Partially Cloudy Weather
This morning I went to the High School to talk to the students during their assembly period about the Infantile Paralysis Drive. Mrs. Davis, who has been teaching in the Training School, was there and spoke to the students about finding a way in life- choosing a star and told them a delightful story in which the characters were three brothers Fortune Famous, Laugh-a-Lot, and Friend of Man.
Leone, Carole Anne and I went to the Training School which ended tonight.

I worked all day today. It has rained practically all day long.
Sunday February 1, 1942
I went to Sunday School this morning. We had one hundred and eighty-one present. We had a very nice school and the spirit of our people is splendid. We took an offering for the Infantile Paralysis Campaign. This amounted to $10.00 which I think was very fine when one considers the many appeals we have.
